Grappling was a project I worked on with Alexandra Staines for April Nunes-Tucker as a performer in the practical component of her PhD. This involved an ongoing weekly workshop programme over a period of several months and then a public performance of a 45-minute structured improvisation for assessment.

Grappling was constructed from events that aimed to destabilise performance persona… Throughout the devising process of Grappling, Douse and Staines worked to become attentive to their adopted performance personas which emerged in the lived moments of the performative dance event.
